Upholding Authenticity: The Success of Our Professional Development in Japan 🇯🇵
We are delighted to announce that our recent intensive professional development trip to Japan was a resounding success!
We returned last week feeling energized and privileged by the opportunity to train directly under Seki Sensei, the 22nd Headmaster of Kobudo Asayama Ichiden Ryu.
This journey was a dedicated introduction to new, related disciplines for us in Asayama Ichiden Ryu: Iai (the art of drawing the katana) and Kenjutsu (sword techniques).
This intensive study of a true Kobudo—an ancient martial art predating the Edo period—was a crucial step in our ongoing personal martial journey.
Commitment to the Highest Standards
Our commitment to continuous education is the cornerstone of Shin Gan Dojo. We undertake these training opportunities not to immediately introduce new techniques, but to deepen our own knowledge and enhance our overall understanding of the art’s foundational philosophy and historical context.*
This ensures that the instruction you receive in Ninpo Taijutsu is always rooted in the highest standard of authenticity. We maintain this rigorous approach because we believe true quality is achieved only through the continuous growth of the instructors.
Sharing the Experience
We are incredibly grateful for your patience and understanding while we were away. We will be sharing more photos from the trip over the coming weeks, but for now, please enjoy our group photo with the remarkable teachers and students who made this experience a success.
Thank you once again for your dedication and continued support of our dojo.
Sincerely, Sensei Brian & Senpai Gigi
*NOTE: We are not teaching, nor passing along any part of the Asayama Ichiden Ryu Iai or kenjutsu training. We undertake these training opportunities to deepen our own knowledge and enhance our overall understanding of the art.
